We accept new or gently used suitcases or duffel bags through the Duffels of Dignity program

Hillsborough County Children's Services assists many local children who are in traumatic situations, facing homelessness, or in need of emergency shelter.

Some come without a bag to store their belongings. Unfortunately, some are forced to use garbage bags to carry their few personal items. Foster care youth in Hillsborough County face similar needs.

Filling a need

To help these children and offer them a bit of courage and dignity, Children's Services accepts new or gently used suitcases or duffel bags through its Duffels of Dignity program.

Since the program started in October 2022, over 1,000 new and used bags and thousands of personal care items have been donated to those in need.

How to donate

Donations accepted

  • New or gently used duffel bag (24-28 inches) or suitcase (wheelie bags, suitcases with handles, and backpacks are all accepted)
  • Personal care items
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Comb and brush
  • Shampoo/conditioner
  • Deodorant

All personal care items should be new and in their original packaging.

Amazon wish list

Duffels of Dignity also has an Amazon Wish List and the items will be mailed directly to the Children’s Services campus.
