Apply for a Spay & Neuter Voucher

Our Spay and Neuter Voucher Program can help income-qualifying residents get this important surgery for their dogs and cats.

You must be a Hillsborough County resident and participate in one of the following public assistance programs or meet the low income guidelines: 

• Food Stamps
• Hillsborough Health Care Plan
• Medicaid
• Section 8 Housing
• Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
• TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families)
• Women, Infants & Children
• Low-income earnings, as defined by the Federal Poverty Income guideline and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
  • Your income cannot be higher than 185 percent of the poverty level

• A $10 co-pay is required and covers a rabies shot and an updated Hillsborough County pet registration tag

Follow this step-by-step process:

1. Download an application
   • You can also request and application by mail, or you can pick one up at the Pet Resource Center (PRC), 440 N. Falkenburg Road in Tampa

2. Gather a copy of your driver’s license and one of the following:
   • a copy of your benefit card
   • proof of public assistance
   • last year's tax filing form
3. Mail or hand deliver the complete application, ID, and one of the items from the list in step number two to the PRC

   • Appointments are strongly encouraged and are available from 10 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Saturday. Priority will be given to those with appointments, but walk-up customers will be seen between scheduled appointments.

1. We will review the application
2. If approved, we will give you a list of participating veterinarians
3. Choose a clinic from the list below and make an appointment within 45 days
   • Bring your voucher and a $10 co-pay for each animal to your vet when you bring the animal in for surgery
   • Do not bring your pet to the Pet Resource Center for surgery
